One — these devices are fully open source… that means you can find all of the up-to-date and well documented plans here to make them, from the circuit boards to the physical case. We also try to do things in a way that others can replicate without a lot of help. You may notice that this impacts how the device was designed. Making 10, means you have the time and resources to formalize the process and use large scale manufacturing methods with big up front costs like injection molding, etc.

A Refractometer, or Brix Meter, has been the best tool available for assessing the relative quality of fruits and vegetables for many generations. Refractometers measure the dissolved solids in liquids, including sugars, vitamins, minerals, proteins, hormones, etc. This issue has rendered the refractometer useless at point-of-purchase, which is the exact moment when the BFA wants to empower consumers to identify their best options in the produce bin.
